GOAL
Executive Director, Phil Nuzzo, and Orchestra Manager and flutist, Eva Ding, approached me for an exciting new project. They had an upcoming show for Gustav Holst’s The Planets and were requesting background visuals for the performance, to which I gladly accepted as it felt like a natural and perfect collaboration.

Inspiration: I have always been fascinated by the vastness of space and our galaxies. It's the practice of pushing our minds to think beyond ourselves and what we see in front of us that I gravitate towards. With many of my personal works, I try to push the idea into new and unknown visual territories; experimenting with form, color, type, texture and space.

Art Direction: I want to showcase our planets and stars through a slightly more abstract lens: showcasing a combination of our planets and nebulas against vibrant color palettes to form a dreamscape. I hope to craft these animations such that they look like "paintings" and deliver a sense of awe to the audience.

Technical Process: I use a variety of 2D and 3D modeling and animation techniques and work in multiple design programs such as Blender and After Effects. In Blender, I created various forms of nebula through volume shaders and procedural textures. I love to fuse the results I achieve from each program as part of my distinctive process. By doing so, the final piece is rendered with a unique texture of animation styles.
